Brgy. Ginebra downs Mahindra to clinch No.1 seed, twice-to-beat

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel feasted on a struggling Mahindra squad, posting a 94-80 victory to earn the top spot after the elimination round of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum. Justin Brownlee was once against stellar for the Gin Kings, hitting 22 points off a 50 percent shooting clip.

The import also had 10 boards and five assists in less than 39 minutes of play. Japeth Aguilar was the only other starter in double figures with 14, as LA Tenorio and Scottie Thompson were limited to just eight points each. Mark Caguioa led the bench with 13, while Sol Mercado chipped in nine markers. Ginebra jumped to a 26-16 lead after the opening period and never looked back, responding to every Mahindra make with their own. At one point in the third, the Gin Kings led by as many as 17 points, helping them cruise to an easy victory. Keith Wright paced Mahindra with 21 points and 22 rebounds, while Glenn Khobuntin added 16. Jason Deutchman surprised with 13 off the bench, while Reden Celda and LA Revilla combined for nine points off a 3 of 17 clip.
