Road rage suspect Fredison Atienza spotted in Boracay, says QCPD

MANILA, Philippines – The main suspect in the killing of road rage victim Anthony Mendoza has been spotted in Boracay, said Quezon City Police District (QCPD) acting Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday, March 2. According to the police official, Fredison Atienza flew to Boracay last Sunday, February 26; one day after the fatal shooting of Mendoza following an altercation at the intersection of Quezon Avenue and D. Tuazon Street in Quezon City.

However, Atienza reportedly did not return to Manila on his scheduled flight on Wednesday and is still believed to be in Boracay after the police launched a massive manhunt for his arrest. Eleazar said they are positive that alleged killer have not left the area based on their surveillance. The Boracay police have also joined the manhunt for Atienza and is now coordinating with QCPD. “Sa ating information ay paikot-ikot lang siya dito at parati naman daw siya rito kahit before pa,” said Malay, Aklan police chief Sr. Insp. Jess Baylon in an interview over DZBB. [Based on our information, he was seen roaming around and he frequented this place before.] Local authorities have also sought the help of the public to inform them via the telephone number 09075036235 if they ever spotted Atienza. Atienza had also been placed on the lookout bulletin of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as he could be planning to slip out of the country to evade arrest.
