WATCH THIS! DOT’s new campaign video ‘When you’re with Filipinos, you’re with family’

This is the highlight of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT’s) new campaign video. On Facebook, the tourism department shared its latest campaign material. “#WhenWithFilipinos, it is definitely more fun in the Philippines,” read the caption of the video. “In the middle of the Miss Universe excitement, we were also shooting and producing DOT’s new campaign. Please share. We are very much proud of this ad,” DOT Undersecretary Kat De Castro wrote on Facebook. The video, which is also an advert being shown on television, features what traveler Jack Ellis experienced when he visited the Philippines.

When Ellis was about to leave after looking at the fishes, a woman approached him and offered him food. “The fish are eating, so should you, anak [sic],” the kind woman said. “Thank you,” Ellis told her. “You’re welcome, anak,” she replied. Wondering what the word “anak” means, Ellis asked his tour guide. “It means my child,” the man told him. Ellis smiled. “When you’re with Filipinos, you’re with family,” his words flashes on the screen; ending the more than one-minute video. A commenter on the vid aptly explains the reason why DOT focused on the people of the country this time, after its “More fun in the Philippines” slogan. John Edejer said, in response to another commenter, that the new slogan is “supposed to be an extension of the more fun campaign; this time they want to say “why” it is more fun here. After showing people around the world that Philippines has indeed some of the most beautiful places in the world, this time, the DOT wants to go more in-depth. It aims to appeal to the emotion so as to give more reasons for tourist to come here.”
