Tropang Texters Defeats Rain or Shine on game 5, win away from PBA title

Tropang Texters moved just a win away from taking the PBA Commissioner Cup title after beating Rain or Shine in Game 5, 103-94. The Tropang Texters, who are now ahead in the series, led by as much as 20 points midway the third canto. But the Elasto Painters, led by Paul Lee, battled on and came to as close as 5 points, 99-94, with over a minute remaining. Talk 'N Text sealed the victory through Ivan Johnson's dunk, with 17 seconds to go.



Ranidel De Ocampo did heavy damage against Rain or Shine by scoring 27 points, including three triples. He also hauled down 8 rebounds, the highest among the Texters. Johnson also contributed big time with 27 points and 6 rebounds, while Jayson Castro led the Texters with 15 points. Talk 'N Text coach Jong Uichico said he is glad they now have a 3-2 series lead.

He, however, said it's too early to celebrate. "It's good to win but it's not yet over. We need four wins to win," said the Texters' tactician. He added that they should end the series on Sunday when they resume their battle for the the title in Game 6. "We should play with the same attitude on Sunday. We should play with urgency," said Uichico. Castro, for his part, said Rain or Shine adjusted its defense, forcing Talk 'N Text to be creative in scoring.

"Sabi ni coach we need to move the ball and find the open man."

The conference best player added that they should remain steadfast with their defense in Game 6.

"Medyo nagrerelax kami pag leading kami, so kelangan maging aggressive pa kami doon," he said.
