Pia Cayetano gets robbed in Spain

Pia Cayetano was having an afternoon walk at the streets of Madrid, Spain last Sunday, April 26, when her cellular phone was snatched by a man riding a bicycle. Even senators gets robbed sometimes. On her Facebook Page, Cayetano described how she was busily looking at Google maps on her phone when the man suddenly reached out and grabbed her phone. The senator tried to run after the robber and even threw her charger hoping that it would stop him to no avail. Cayetano decided to shout for help and the men across her responded by pulling the robber off his bicycle and pinning him to the ground. Police men arrived soon after and the senator was asked to file her report at the station.

Thankfully, the senator got her phone back and was unharmed. Cayetano was also able to capture the moment when the robber was apprehended by the police. On her post, Cayetano mentioned that she was able to give her testimony in Spanish. The senator ended her post with “I think I’ll take a break from running tomorrow. Lesson learned: Always be on guard wherever you are.” Earlier that day, the senator participated at the Madrid Rock n’ Roll half marathon. The event was part of the Rock n’ Roll Marathon Series and is held in 27 different cities in North America and six locations in Europe. The marathon is becoming a go-to destination for avid runners as it not only offers picturesque locations but also live bands and entertainment at the trail and the finish line. A few days before the Madrid marathon, Cayetano was at Florence, Italy where she tried making pizza at a senior vocational school. The senator mentioned that the visit was part of her study regarding programs for students that can be incorporated in the country’s K-12 program.
