Filipina contestants wow ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ judges

Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez weren’t kidding when they said the Philippines would be well-represented on AXN’s increasingly popular talent search series, “Asia’s Got Talent”. “For sure, you will be proud as a Pinoy. We were discussing this one time and we all agree that there are so many good Filipino acts that they’re likely to divide your loyalties,” Rovilson told InterAksyon and other media at the media launch of the show last month.

True enough, the Filipinos proved to be a force to reckon with during the audition phase of the show that took place in Malaysia last January and were aired over five episodes that started last March 12. In order to pass the auditions, each contestant must earn at least three Yes votes from judges Anggun, Melanie C, David Foster and Vanness Wu.

Each of these judges is also entitled to press the Golden Buzzer once to an act that would automatically advance to the show’s semi-final round. Aside from the four Golden Acts, the rest of the 20 semi-finalists will be deliberated upon by the four judges. Of the numerous contestants who have auditioned from 14 Asian countries, over a dozen Filipino acts have passed the auditions. Of these acts, four have so far made it to the semi-final round.
