Soldiers receive Krispy Kreme donuts from mystery guy

It isn’t everyday that we hear of philanthropic surprises such as what a man suddenly did for some 200 members of the Philippine Army who were participating in an event at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Sunday afternoon. So it’s a real breather when Captain Gemira Dy of the Philippine Army’s Civil-Military Operations Group shared a heartwarming incident involving a man and some dozens of donuts from Krispy Kreme BHS.

It was reported that the soldiers were in the Bonifacio High Street area for a static display event for the Army’s 118th anniversary. Captain Dy said a number of soldiers were in a queue to buy some Krispy Kremes donuts when this man who introduced himself only as Dexter Koh approached them and asked for the number of soldiers participating in the event. He then placed an order for several dozens, paid the bill and left. The soldiers and the crew of the well-loved donuts were all astonished as it became apparent that the man did not go there to buy some donuts for himself. The captain said a total of 12 boxes, amounting to P4,740, were distributed to the soldiers who were waiting outside. While Captain Dy and her colleagues are relaying their gratitude to the mystery donor, they have also expressed their overwhelming acknowledgment for his kind gesture: “Salamat kasi naa-appreciate niya ang Philippine Army.” [Thank you because it showed us you appreciate the Philippine Army.] The gesture, it can be said, was timely, as the soldiers’ morale need to be lifted after the controversial and painful Mamasapano incident.

Some soldiers were in a queue at Krispy Kreme BHS, suddenly a man who introduced himself as Dexter Koh asked them how many soldiers are there for the static display. One of them answered that about 200 Philippine Army soldiers were outside, when Dexter learned this, he ordered doughnuts for everyone which left both the KK crew and army troops astounded. Dexter just briefly paid for the doughnuts that we were not even able to take a photo with him.”
To Dexter, from the bottom of our hearts, we are very thankful for your gesture! Words cannot comprehend enough our gratitude for citizens like you!
